Flores is part of the Island group of Sunda (Bali, Lombok, Sumba, Sumbawa, Flores and Timor) which belongs to Indonesia . The island is 375km long and has approximately 1.4 million citizens. Flores is one of the poorest, but greenest islands of Indonesia . There is limted water, electricity, tourism and work. In spite of the beautiful green surroundings, people suffer from poverty and live in miserable conditions. Because of 14 active volcanoes on the island and the bad geographic situation, the population has to endure poor harvests, volcanic eruptions and frequent earthquakes. |
